Arbor Day Celebration
Held every year in January at Tekesta Park. 2011’s event attendance was great. Residents who purchased trees were able to pick them up and enjoy the other fun activities such as face painting for the kids, tours of the park showing the exotic invasive plants that our taking over the green spaces as well as the unique native plants we have in our community. Of course it wouldn't be arbor day without the planting of trees. In the past volunteers have planted Tulip Poplar and Shumard Oak to shade the playground. Additional trees were planted in other locations including Dogwood, Chickasaw Plum, Swamp Dogwood, Crab-apple and Strawberry Bush. For more information and upcoming meetings and events go to: http://www.killearnlakesarbor.com
All these functions require the help of volunteers! Get to know your neighbors by signing up to help at any of these annual events. Give a little, get a lot!
